Great Lakes Partners for Patients

Welcome to the Great Lakes Partners for Patients home page!

WHA is very pleased to announce we will be offering all of the services of the new CMS Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN). Every WHA member is invited to participate in this important work to continue our journey toward safer patient care and reduced readmissions. WHA will be participating with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) Keystone Center and the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA) to form the Great Lakes Partners for Patients HIIN to reduce hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) by 20 percent and readmissions by 12 percent, from a 2014 baseline.

Quality Essential Skills Training (QuEST)

The Great Lakes Partners for Patients is offering Quality Essential Skills Training (QuEST), a two-day, in person workshop that will engage your hospital quality leaders and improvement teams in learning basic quality concepts. During the workshop, we will use adult learning principles to help participants:

  • Master the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) improvement model and small tests of change
  • Sharpen team building and facilitation skills
  • Use data to accurately interpret variation and effectively drive decision-making
  • Apply learning concepts directly to the HIIN topics

Who Should Attend: The intended audience are people who play an important role in the HIIIN: quality staff, improvement team and hospital leaders. Participants will leave with new insights, new tools for action and analysis, and a new friend or two.

QuEST events are free of charge to attend, although each participant is responsible for their own travel, meals, and lodging expenses.

Program Dates and Locations:
Wednesday, October 4 & Thursday, October 5, 2017:  Holiday Inn, Appleton
